Privacy Policy

This policy was last modified on July 23, 2026.

This policy applies to all information collected or submitted on the Cee website and our app for iPhone and any other devices and platforms.

See The Colour ("us", "we", "our") takes personal privacy seriously. We limit the collection of personal information to cases where it is truly needed for the operation of the app. Personal information is never shared except to comply with the law or protect our rights.

1. Who We Are

Cee is developed and published by See The Colour ("we," "us," or "our"). You can contact us at support@seethecolour.com.

2. What Cee Does

Cee is a local-first iOS app. It lets you extract dominant colours from photos or your camera and saves the resulting palettes on your device. We do not operate a backend server, database, or user account system. Almost everything the app does happens on your device, and your photos and palettes never leave it unless you choose to share them.

3. Information Stored on Your Device

Cee stores the following data locally in your device's app sandbox. This data is deleted when you uninstall the app.

Saved colour palettes — the names, HEX and RGB values, swatch data, and source photo for each entry in your Colour Library. This data stays on your device unless you choose to share a palette.

Onboarding completed flag — a simple yes/no record of whether you've seen the intro screens, so they don't show again on subsequent launches.

Free scan usage count — a count of how many scans you've used in the current 24-hour window, used to enforce the free tier limit.

Subscription status — a local copy of whether Cee More is active, synced from Apple on your device. This is used to unlock paid features and never leaves your device.

Settings preferences — your chosen in-app settings, such as whether "Suggest extract after new photos" is enabled.

Pending photo ID — an optional, temporary reference to a photo library asset used to open the correct photo after you tap a notification. This never leaves your device.

We do not collect: your name, email address, phone number, Apple ID, contacts, or location. There is no GPS feature in the app.

4. Device Permissions

The app may request the following iOS permissions:

Camera — Used for live colour picking when you open the camera view. Only accessed when you initiate a camera scan.

Photo Library — Used to import photos for colour extraction. If you enable "Suggest extract after new photos" in Settings, the app also accesses your library to detect newly added photos. Only accessed when you import a photo or opt into this feature.

Notifications — Used to alert you when a new photo is added to your library (if you enable this in Settings). This is optional and entirely user-controlled. You can turn it off at any time in your device's iOS Settings.

Important: Photos are processed entirely on your device. We do not transmit the contents of your camera or photo library to any server we operate.

5. Data That Can Leave Your Device

A. Sharing (user-initiated)

When you tap Share, iOS presents the system share sheet. You choose where to send your palette card or colour codes — Messages, Mail, Instagram, or any app on your device. We do not control what the receiving app does with that content once it's shared.

B. Apple / App Store

Subscriptions to Cee More are processed entirely through Apple's in-app purchase system (StoreKit). We receive only your subscription entitlement status on-device — not your payment details, Apple ID, or billing information. Subscription management and refunds are handled by Apple.

C. Contact Support

Tapping "Contact Support" in Settings opens a URL in Safari (seethecolour.com/support). Normal web analytics on that page, if any, are governed by the website's own privacy policy — not this one.

D. Background Image (minimal)

The app may load a decorative background image from a URL. The current release uses a bundled image and does not require a network request for normal use.

E. Live Activities

A short-lived Live Activity may appear on your Lock Screen or in the Dynamic Island while a colour extraction runs. This data stays within Apple's Live Activity system and is not transmitted to us.

6. Analytics

Current status: Analytics is not enabled in this version of the app.

We plan to add anonymous usage analytics before or after launch. When added, we intend to collect only anonymous usage events — for example: app opened, scan completed, paywall shown, subscribe tapped, palette saved, share opened. We do not plan to include photos, palette names, colour libraries, location, contacts, or any information that identifies you personally.

This Privacy Policy will be updated with the specific provider and data collected before analytics goes live. The App Store Privacy Nutrition Labels will be updated accordingly.

7. iCloud Backup

Your Cee library and settings are stored in your device's app sandbox. If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, this data may be included in your iCloud backup. This is governed by Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy, not by this policy.

8. What We Do Not Do

  • We do not sell your data to third parties

  • We do not upload your photos to any server we operate

  • We do not use your photos to train AI or machine learning models

  • We do not include advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking (IDFA)

  • We do not include social media SDKs

  • We do not operate user accounts or a backend database of users

  • We do not use your data for any purpose other than operating the app's features on your device

9. Data Retention

On-device library and settings are retained until you delete the app or remove items manually within the app. Apple subscription records are retained per Apple's own policies. Analytics events (when added) are retained per the analytics provider's retention policy, which will be specified in an updated version of this policy when analytics is enabled.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is rated 13+ on the App Store. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 is using the app in a way that raises a privacy concern, please contact us at support@seethecolour.com.

11. International Users

If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, you may have additional rights under GDPR or UK GDPR. Because Cee does not collect personal data on our servers, most GDPR rights (access, deletion, portability) are exercised directly on your device by uninstalling the app or deleting items within it. For any questions, contact us at support@seethecolour.com.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted on the website or in an app update. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
